Get Involved

Be Part of Something Meaningful

There are so many ways to make a difference with PAACT—whether you choose to donate, volunteer, foster, or simply help spread the word. Every action, big or small, helps build a more compassionate community for pets and the people who love them.

Your support fuels hope. Your voice expands our reach. And your enthusiasm inspires others to join the movement.

Together, we can create a lasting imPAACT—one paw at a time.

Donations!

Help Us Make a Lasting imPAACT!

For someone facing financial hardship, a bag of pet food or box of litter can mean more than meeting an immediate need—it can help keep a beloved pet safe, cared for, and with the family they know and love.

Your donation helps PAACT:

  • Provide free pet food and essential supplies through our Care Closet

  • Support spay/neuter, vaccination, and animal-welfare efforts

  • Offer compassionate support to those grieving the loss or anticipated loss of a pet

  • Continue caring for animals already in our programs

  • Build the resources and capacity needed to support more pets and families in the future

We gratefully accept monetary donations and new or gently used pet supplies, including food, litter, collars, harnesses, leashes, kennels, carriers, beds, and toys.

Every contribution—no matter the size—can fill an empty bowl, ease a family’s burden, and help protect the bond between a person and the animal they love.

Give hope. Keep families together. Make a lasting imPAACT.

Join Our PAACT!
Become a
Core Volunteer!

We Are Looking For

We are seeking compassionate, reliable individuals who believe that pets are family and are committed to making a meaningful difference in their community.

What Is a Core Volunteer?

Core Volunteers are the foundation of PAACT's ongoing programs and services. Unlike event-based volunteering, this role involves ongoing involvement in supporting pets and the people who love them. From responding to community inquiries and coordinating resources to assisting with cases and supporting our initiatives, Core Volunteers help ensure PAACT can operate effectively, compassionately, and responsibly.

Every volunteer brings unique strengths, interests, and experiences. We work collaboratively to match responsibilities with each volunteer's skills and capacity, creating a role that is both meaningful and sustainable.

Core Volunteer Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting pet owners experiencing behavioural, medical, financial, or personal challenges.

  • Assisting with home-to-home rehoming to help prevent shelter surrender.

  • Providing education, advocacy, and compassionate support within the community.

  • Assisting with outreach, administration, communications, or program coordination.

  • Helping strengthen and grow PAACT's community initiatives.

Training & Onboarding

All Core Volunteers complete a structured 90-day onboarding program designed to build confidence and provide ongoing support.

During onboarding, volunteers will:

  • Learn about PAACT's mission, values, and programs.

  • Become familiar with our communication platforms, documentation, and internal systems.

  • Observe active cases and learn alongside experienced volunteers before taking on greater responsibility.

  • Receive training in confidentiality, boundaries, and trauma-informed, compassion-centred support.

  • Participate in regular check-ins to discuss learning, confidence, and role alignment.

Throughout the onboarding process, volunteers have opportunities to observe, ask questions, practice using internal systems, and gradually participate in PAACT's day-to-day operations with mentorship and support from experienced team members.

What We Value

Across all Core Volunteer roles, PAACT prioritizes:

  • Compassion and empathy

  • Respectful communication

  • Teamwork and collaboration

  • Autonomy and trust

  • Inclusivity and accessibility

  • Sustainable volunteer involvement

Schedule

  • Time Commitment: Approximately 10+ hours per week

  • Commitment: Ongoing, long-term involvement

  • Flexibility: Volunteer schedules are coordinated to balance coverage with personal commitments.

  • Support: Comprehensive training, mentorship, ongoing communication, and collaborative teamwork.

At PAACT, we believe volunteers should feel supported, valued, and empowered—not overwhelmed. If you are looking for an opportunity where your time, compassion, and commitment can make a lasting difference for pets, families, and the community, we would love to welcome you to our team.

Become a
Community Volunteer!

What Is a Community Volunteer?

Community Volunteers play an important role in supporting PAACT's initiatives through flexible, project-based opportunities. This role is ideal for individuals who want to make a meaningful difference without the ongoing responsibilities of a Core Volunteer or Board Member.

Whether you have a few hours to spare or want to support a specific event or initiative, Community Volunteers help us expand our reach and strengthen our impact throughout the community.

Community Volunteer Responsibilities

Community Volunteer opportunities may include:

  • Supporting donation drives, Care Closet preparation, and supply deliveries.

  • Helping at community events, outreach booths, fundraisers, and awareness campaigns.

  • Assisting with event setup, cleanup, and behind-the-scenes logistics.

  • Participating in short-term projects and other community initiatives as opportunities arise.

What to Expect

Community Volunteers participate on an as-needed basis and choose opportunities that fit their schedule and availability.

As a Community Volunteer, you can expect:

  • Flexible, project-based involvement with no long-term commitment.

  • No case management, crisis response, or ongoing program coordination responsibilities.

  • A welcoming, inclusive environment that values volunteers of all abilities and backgrounds.

  • Opportunities to support meaningful initiatives while working alongside a compassionate team.

Who Is This Role For?

This opportunity is ideal for:

  • Individuals looking for occasional or seasonal volunteer opportunities.

  • Students seeking hands-on experience.

  • Community members who are new to volunteering or animal advocacy.

  • Anyone who wants to support local pets and families without a regular weekly commitment.

Support & Requirements

To help you feel confident and prepared, PAACT provides:

  • Clear task instructions and project-specific guidance.

  • Orientation when required for specific events or activities.

  • Ongoing support from experienced volunteers and team members.

  • A simple liability waiver prior to participation.

Community volunteering with PAACT is a flexible and rewarding way to give back to your community. Every event, project, and helping hand contributes to a lasting imPAACT for pets, their people, and the communities we serve.

Become a Foster!

Be Their Bridge to Safety and Stability

Foster homes provide animals with a safe, stable place to stay when they cannot remain in their current home. Depending on the situation, this may include temporary care during an owner’s personal crisis or support while an animal waits for a permanent home.

Because PAACT does not operate a physical shelter, our ability to help depends on compassionate foster caregivers within the community. Foster placements may last a few days, several weeks, or longer, based on the animal’s needs and the caregiver’s availability.

PAACT provides guidance and ongoing coordination throughout the placement. You provide the safe environment, daily care, and compassion that help an animal through a difficult transition.

We provide the support. You provide the care. Together, we create stability!

Adopt an Animal

Give Them the Safe, Lasting Home They Deserve

PAACT helps connect adopters with both animals in PAACT’s care and privately owned animals being rehomed through our Tail End Journey initiative.

Animals in PAACT’s care may be staying with foster caregivers while awaiting permanent homes. Tail End Journey animals remain with their current owners whenever possible, while PAACT supports a safe, direct transition into a new home.

Our adoption process is designed to create thoughtful, compatible matches. Interested adopters complete an application and may participate in follow-up conversations, reference checks, a home check, and a supported meet-and-greet. Approved adoptions are finalized through a PAACT adoption agreement.

Help Us Make an imPAACT—One Share at a Time!

Making a difference does not always require donating money or opening your home. Sometimes, it begins with a single share.

When you share PAACT’s posts, tell someone about our work, or connect us with a person who needs support, you help our message reach farther. That one small action could help a family find essential pet supplies, introduce an animal to a potential adopter, or connect PAACT with a future volunteer or supporter.

You can help by:

  • Sharing and engaging with our social media posts

  • Inviting friends and family to follow PAACT

  • Telling others about your experience with our organization

  • Recommending PAACT to someone seeking support or looking for a way to give back

Every share helps build awareness, trust, and a stronger community for animals and the people who love them.

Your voice has power. One share could be where someone’s hope begins.
